In 2014, the World Cup was held and bookmaker offices actively accepted bets on its results. One of these clubs was illegal and underground, and Paul Phua was charged with its organization. Two criminal cases were filed on a poker player. The American case was annulled a couple of years ago due to the fact that officials did not allow Paul Phua to prove his innocence.
In Macau, the trial took longer and ended only two weeks ago. The Chinese billionaire’s lawyers did a great job and invited several witnesses to the court who confirmed Paul Phua’s innocence. According to the court decision, Paul was fully acquitted. It was proved that he had nothing to do with accepting bets in underground betting clubs.
