(30.01.2019) PartyPoker left the Swiss market

30.01.2019

In Switzerland, new laws on gambling regulation came into force. According to these new Swiss laws, foreign gambling operators must conclude special agreements, if they do not want their domains to be blocked.

Gambling companies had to quickly make changes in their activities in the Swiss market, taking into account new laws. GVC announced that it would temporarily shut down the poker rooms Bwin and PartyPoker, while The Stars Group announced the closure of only the online casino. PokerStars decided to continue working at their own peril and risk.

According to the results of the survey, 75% of the inhabitants of the country agreed with the new bill. This law was adopted on January 1, 2019. After that, different companies tried to regulate their activities and took appropriate decisions on this matter, for example iPoker (Playtech) signed an agreement with Swiss Casinos. However, GVC and The Stars Group failed to conclude a similar deal earlier.

“We no longer offer our services in Switzerland due to regulatory changes”, – GVC.
Players from Switzerland still have the opportunity to open PartyPoker room, but they are not allowed to play. Access is temporarily opened only so that poker players can withdraw all their money from the accounts. Since the executive part of the law will take effect only from July 1, 2019, PokerStars decided not to close the work of the poker room.
