Austin Peck took first place on the Main Event Heartland Poker Tour and received $152,671. The tournament was attended by 732 players. This is his second victory in the HPT series, the first one he won in 2016. Prior to the tournament, his live tournament winnings were over $371,000.
When asked what he was planning on doing next, Peck replied that this was his last stop on his way home after spending the last six weeks in Las Vegas. He said that winning helped to make up for some of the losses he had during the summer and that the rest of the balance would increase his poker bankroll. He also invited his friends to dinner tonight to buy sushi, and in the fall he is going on vacation with his sister.
Austin came out for the final table with a stack of 5bbb, and soon he doubled with AK versus AQ. Starting with 6-max Austin Peck already had the biggest stack. In the heads-up, he was confronted by Scott Horvath, who initially had a 2k1 advantage. In the final hand, Peck with 44 pockets beat A5 Horvath.
