The Heartland Poker Tour Golden Gates Main Event with a buy-in of $1,650 was attended by 412 players. Jay McVeigh went to the final table with the smallest stack, he had only 15bb. After 20 minutes he had 7bb, and after 8 hours of playing he got the title and the prize for first place in the amount of $ 137,876. This is his third final table in the HPT Main Events, and he was ranked 5th and 6th in previous times.
“It’s really indescribable,”McVeigh said after the win.“I don’t think I did anything special. I got very lucky on a couple of instances where I would have been [the] first to go. I’m just very fortunate things worked out the way that they did.”
