Elik Vodolaz
The WSOPC Hammond Main Event with a buy-in of 1 700$ was attended by 1 050 players, that’s why the prize fund reached 1 590 000$. Some participants won a ticket for this event through the satellites and one of them was the 72-year-old retiree Elik Vodolaz. Elik is an amateur player born in Ukraine and his previous biggest prize was 13 000$. Most of his life Elik worked as a dentist in the United States, but now he is retired and actively playing poker.
Elik managed to beat 1 050 people and take the first place in this tournament. In addition to 300 000$ prize money, he also won the WSOPC gold ring and a ticket to the Global Casino Championship.
«Frankly, I really like playing poker. I just have fun playing. My son is also playing and he told me ‘You’re playing well. Take your time and in the future, you will win something.’ Well, the future came early», – Elik shared his emotions after winning.
The newly-made winner did not comment where he would spend his winnings, but it is unlikely that at such a respectable age Elik will go partying with girls and alcohol.
