It’s hard to believe, but Phil Hellmuth won his first bracelet back in 1989 in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. A lot of time has passed since that momentous event, but Phil Hellmuth remains one of the best players in the world.
Phil Hellmuth wins a record-breaking 17th WSOP Event #72: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty. The fast structure of the tournament attracted quite a large number of participants. In total, 642 players registered for the event, which made it possible to form a prize pool of $4,044,600. Hellmuth received $803,818 for first place, as well as a record-breaking World Series bracelet.
On the way to success in this event, he experienced a rather dangerous situation. At some point, he had only 60 thousand chips left in the stack, and the blinds at the level were already 15000/30000. However, after the break, Hellmuth’s luck returned and later he knocked out Phil Ivey from the tournament, who ended his performance in 6th place.
Heads-up lasted only one hand. Phil Hellmuth had 84 and Justin Zaki had 67 suited. The two players have roughly equal stacks. Hellmuth had two pair on the 8K4 flop against Zaki’s flush straight draw. The players on the flop decide to go all-in. The dealer laid down a 4 on the turn and a K on the river. Thus, Hellmuth won his record-breaking 17th World Series of Poker bracelet.
